Happy Kanywani — The TikTok Fashionista Who Left Museveni Scratching His Head

KAMPALA — A glamorous Ugandan content creator has suddenly become the talk of social media after boldly asking President Yoweri Museveni a question that left the veteran leader momentarily puzzled.

Her name? Happy Kanywani — a stylish TikTok and Instagram influencer whose confidence and fashion sense are already turning heads online.

During a recent engagement with youth and innovators, Kanywani stepped up to the microphone and asked a question that caught the President off guard.

She wanted to know whether content creation could be added to Uganda’s national curriculum.

At first, Museveni appeared slightly confused by the question and asked her to repeat it several times before he fully grasped what she meant. But once the idea clicked, the President delivered a thoughtful response acknowledging how the digital economy is transforming careers.

“You are adding something different,” Museveni told her.

“It used to be an advertisement on radio and television. Now you have used the internet to combine celebrity with promotion and link it with other sectors.”

The exchange instantly sparked conversations online about how Uganda’s education system could adapt to the growing creator economy, where young people earn livelihoods through platforms like TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.

And Kanywani isn’t just asking questions — she’s living the lifestyle.

Known for her striking fashion looks and confident online persona, the Kampala-based influencer has been steadily building a following as a fashionista and opinion leader on social media, where she shares lifestyle content, style inspiration and commentary on youth culture.

Behind the glamour, however, is a personal story of resilience.

Kanywani is a mother of one and the daughter of a former army officer who passed away — a background that she says shaped her determination to carve out her own path.

Now, thanks to one bold question to the President, the stylish creator has become one of the most talked-about young voices in Uganda’s fast-growing digital media scene.

And if the internet has its way, Happy Kanywani might have just started a national conversation about turning content creation into a legitimate career path taught in classrooms.
