    Makoma Lights Up Kampala

KAMPALA — Legendary Congolese gospel group Makoma turned Kololo Independence Grounds into a full-on praise party after delivering a high-energy performance during celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of New Vision.

And judging by the crowd reaction, Kampala loved every second of it.

The gospel icons hit the stage in matching gold outfits, dancing and singing with explosive energy as flashing stage lights and a roaring crowd set the tone for the night.

In the moment captured above, one of the lead singers belts into the microphone with hands raised while fellow performers groove beside him, their shimmering gold costumes reflecting the colorful stage lights.

One performer with blonde hair leans into the rhythm mid-dance while another gestures to the crowd, hyping the audience as the band delivers a powerful praise performance.

    The result? Pure gospel spectacle.

Fans sang along, danced and waved their hands in worship as Makoma performed some of their beloved hits, blending Congolese gospel rhythms with electrifying stage choreography.

The performance quickly became one of the standout highlights of the anniversary celebration, with many in the audience left chanting for more long after the set ended.

For a group that helped define African gospel music in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Makoma proved in Kampala that they still know how to command a stage.
