The remains of legendary Ugandan musician Paulo Kafeero have been exhumed as part of a DNA testing process aimed at ending years of family disputes over paternity and inheritance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heavy security was deployed on Monday in Busansula Village as police supervised the sensitive exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhumation followed a court petition filed by some of Kafeero\u2019s children who want scientific proof of their biological relationship to the late singer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police sealed off roads leading to the burial site and only authorized individuals were allowed access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials from RHINO Company carefully opened the grave and collected bone samples from Kafeero\u2019s remains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The samples were taken under the supervision of a team of experts led by Assistant Inspector General of Police Dr. Moses Byaruhanga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DNA samples will now be analyzed at the Government Analytical Laboratory and the Uganda Police Forensic Laboratory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities believe the results will finally settle long-standing disagreements involving more than 20 people who claim to be Kafeero\u2019s children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exercise sparked mixed reactions among residents of Nkokonjeru and nearby areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some residents supported the move, saying it was necessary to establish the truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Others felt the exhumation was disrespectful to the late musician.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several residents blamed family conflicts on disagreements over property and land ownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of Kafeero\u2019s children accuse their brother, Swazi, of selling family land without consulting them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also claim proceeds from the land sales were used to fund court battles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the tensions, emotional residents gathered near the grave and sang some of Kafeero\u2019s popular songs in tribute to the fallen music icon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joseph Luzige, who leads a group of Kafeero\u2019s children, said the family had no alternative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo one wanted to exhume Paulo Kafeero.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut we have no choice if we are to end these endless conflicts once and for all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe shall use the results to help recover property that was sold.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abubaker Nende, another family member, said they were ready to accept the outcome of the DNA tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe faced many challenges, but we are ready to accept whatever the results show.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe simply want justice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Busansula Village LC1 Chairman Alozious Kasimagwa welcomed the exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis will bring peace to the family and the village.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Byaruhanga said DNA testing was the most reliable way to establish the truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere was no other quicker and more reliable method than exhuming the father.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDNA testing remains the most scientific way to resolve this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The results are expected soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The family hopes they will finally bring closure to years of conflict surrounding one of Uganda\u2019s greatest musical legends.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
