POATE 2026 Legacy Ride: Ugandan Bikers Promote Tourism Across Europe

A group of Ugandan motorcycle enthusiasts has embarked on a remarkable journey across Europe, turning their passion for riding into a unique campaign to promote Uganda’s tourism potential on the international stage.

The team, operating under Bikers Uganda, recently arrived in Milan, Italy, where they officially kicked off a nine-day expedition that will take them through six European countries.

The riders are expected to travel through Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Liechtenstein and Austria before returning to Milan at the end of the adventure.

Their route includes some of Europe’s most famous tourism attractions, scenic mountain roads, historic towns and breathtaking Alpine landscapes.

The expedition comes just weeks after it was unveiled during the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) 2026, Uganda’s flagship tourism exhibition that brings together tourism stakeholders, investors and travel enthusiasts from around the world.

Organizers say the journey is aimed at positioning Uganda as a leading adventure tourism destination while also showcasing the growing role of tourism ambassadors in marketing the country’s attractions beyond its borders.

Upon arriving in Italy, members of the group expressed excitement about the journey ahead and the opportunity to represent Uganda on a global platform.

“Touch down Milan, Italy with my comrades from Bikers Uganda,” one rider shared on social media.

“We will be riding through six European countries over the next nine days.”

“Looking forward to this epic trip.”

The riders are expected to document every stage of their journey through photos, videos and social media updates.

Their content will highlight some of Europe’s most iconic destinations while simultaneously drawing attention to Uganda as a destination for adventure seekers.

Tourism experts believe such initiatives are becoming increasingly important in modern destination marketing.

Rather than relying solely on traditional advertising campaigns, countries are now encouraging authentic storytelling and experience-driven promotion.

Uganda’s tourism sector has increasingly embraced this approach by supporting individuals and groups who can share real-life travel experiences with global audiences.

The European expedition is also expected to create valuable connections between Ugandan riders and international motorcycle communities.

Such interactions could open doors for future collaborations, tourism exchanges and motorcycle tours involving Uganda.

Speaking during the official launch of the expedition at POATE 2026, Bikers Uganda member Tony Otoa emphasized the significance of the initiative.

“This ride demonstrates the spirit of adventure that Uganda offers visitors,” Otoa said.

“It is a unique way of promoting tourism while creating international connections and showcasing the potential of motorcycle tourism.”

Motorcycle tourism has emerged as one of the fastest-growing segments within the global adventure travel industry.

Many enthusiasts travel thousands of kilometers every year in search of scenic routes, cultural experiences and unforgettable journeys.

Countries that successfully attract motorcycle travelers often benefit from increased spending on accommodation, food, fuel and local attractions.

Uganda’s diverse landscapes, ranging from mountain ranges and national parks to lakes and cultural heritage sites, provide significant potential for the growth of this niche tourism market.

For Bikers Uganda, however, the expedition is about more than simply exploring Europe.

The riders view themselves as ambassadors carrying Uganda’s tourism message to new audiences.

“This is not only about riding motorcycles,” Otoa said.

“It is about representing Uganda, sharing our story and showing that Ugandans can participate in global tourism experiences while promoting our own destination.”

As the riders navigate winding Alpine roads, cross international borders and experience different cultures, they are also demonstrating the power of tourism to connect people across continents.

Their journey reflects the message championed during POATE 2026 that tourism is about exploration, storytelling and building meaningful connections.

For the next nine days, that story will continue to unfold across Europe.

And at the center of it will be a determined group of Ugandan riders proudly carrying the Pearl of Africa’s tourism flag far beyond its borders.
