Shock and Grief as Peter Tulilinya Dies After Brutal Paver Attack, Ugandans Demand Action on Rising Crime

Ugandans on social media have been left heartbroken and angry following the tragic death of Peter Tulilinya, a young medical professional whose life was cut short after a violent attack by suspected thugs. Peter, who was known among friends and classmates as hardworking and kind, reportedly lost his life after being hit on the head with a paving stone during an evening attack. News of his passing spread quickly, leaving many people struggling to accept how someone with so much promise could be taken away in such a cruel way.

Peter Tulilinya was not just a student but a man with many responsibilities and dreams. He worked as a medical assistant and medical imaging technologist while also pursuing further studies in diagnostic ultrasound. Friends described him as a passionate learner who wanted to improve his skills to better serve patients. He was also known as an art lover, a devoted husband, a proud father, and a big fan of baseball. Those close to him say he balanced family life and studies with determination.

According to information shared online, Peter was a second-year MDU (Master of Diagnostic Ultrasound) student pursuing advanced training in diagnostic ultrasound. Reports from colleagues indicated that he was attacked by criminals who used a paver to strike him on the head. Despite efforts made to save him, he sadly did not survive the injuries. His death has left fellow students and colleagues deeply shaken, with many describing him as humble, focused, and always willing to help others.

Messages shared by classmates and friends painted a painful picture of loss and unfinished dreams. Some wrote emotional tributes describing Peter as a dear friend whose sudden death left many unanswered questions. They spoke about plans that will now never be completed, including academic goals and family ambitions. Many described him as a fighter who had overcome several life challenges, only to lose his life to senseless violence.

Beyond the personal grief, many Ugandans used the moment to raise concerns about the growing number of violent attacks involving pavers and machetes. Some people questioned how paving stones, which are easily found on roads and construction sites, have become deadly weapons in the hands of criminals. Many citizens expressed fear about moving at night, saying violent gangs appear to be becoming more bold and organized.

Social media users also called upon the Uganda Police Force to take urgent action to control rising crime. Several posts demanded justice for Peter and others who have lost their lives in similar attacks. Some people suggested bringing back community police posts and increasing night patrols in residential areas. Others also raised concerns about music and online content that mention violence, including songs using phrases like “mukube paver,” warning that such messages may influence dangerous behavior.

For Peter’s family, the pain remains deeply personal as they mourn the loss of a husband and father taken too soon. Friends and colleagues continue to share messages of sympathy, describing him as a gentle and hardworking man whose dedication to his career and family stood out. As calls for justice grow louder, many Ugandans say his death should serve as a wake-up call, urging authorities to act quickly to protect citizens and prevent more lives from being lost to senseless violence.
