Veteran comedian and radio personality Amooti Omubalanguzi has dismissed reports suggesting that he was fired from Capital FM, insisting that his departure from the station was a personal decision.
The celebrated entertainer has been the subject of speculation in recent days following reports that he had been shown the exit at the Kisementi-based media house.
However, Amooti says the claims are false and do not reflect what actually happened.
Speaking about his departure, the comedian explained that he voluntarily stepped away from the station after serving for nearly two decades.
According to him, the decision was influenced by personal priorities and a desire to focus more on his growing ventures outside radio.
Amooti noted that after spending many years balancing his responsibilities at Capital FM alongside his comedy career, he felt it was time to take a different direction.
He emphasized that leaving the station was not the result of disciplinary action or management dissatisfaction.
Instead, he said, it was a carefully considered decision made after years of service.
The comedian also criticized reports suggesting that he had been dismissed, arguing that such stories were designed to attract public attention.
He maintained that the truth was much simpler than the headlines being circulated online.
“Sometimes people create stories that will sell,” Amooti said.
“But the truth is that I requested to step down because I had worked there for a long time.”
“I asked to resign.”
His remarks have helped clarify the circumstances surrounding his departure and put to rest speculation about a possible fallout with management.
Amooti further reassured his fans that his exit from Capital FM does not mark the end of his career in entertainment.
He explained that while he has reduced his involvement in certain activities, he remains fully committed to comedy and content creation.

The entertainer promised supporters that they would continue enjoying his work through various platforms.
“However, you will still be hearing my content,” he said.
“I only reduced my involvement in some activities for a while.”
“But I am still in comedy.”
For many fans, Amooti’s clarification comes as welcome news.
Over the years, he has built a strong reputation as one of Uganda’s most recognizable comedians and media personalities.
His unique style of humor and storytelling has earned him a loyal audience across different generations.
His presence on radio also helped him expand his influence beyond the comedy stage, making him a household name in Uganda’s entertainment industry.
After spending close to 20 years at Capital FM, Amooti reflected on the role the station played in shaping his professional journey.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunities he received during his time there.
The comedian credited the station for providing a platform that allowed him to showcase his talent and connect with audiences over the years.
He described his time at Capital FM as an important chapter in his career and one that contributed significantly to his growth as an entertainer.
Although his departure marks the end of a long-running relationship with the station, Amooti says he looks forward to exploring new opportunities and expanding his personal projects.
Industry observers believe his decision could allow him to focus more on comedy, live performances, digital content creation and other business interests.
For now, the comedian remains optimistic about the future. And while his voice may no longer be heard regularly on Capital FM, he insists that his journey in entertainment is far from over.
With his comedy career still active and new ventures on the horizon, Amooti Omubalanguzi appears ready to embrace the next phase of his professional life while carrying forward the experience gained from nearly two decades in radio broadcasting.
